Arsenal pair Leah Williamson and Beth Mead were named in FIFPro’s World Best Eleven at the Best FIFA awards on Monday night.
Chelsea forward Sam Kerr joined the Gunners’ pair as the three Women’s Super League players represented, with former Manchester City pair Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh also selected. Christine Endler, Maria Leon, Wendie Renard, Alexia Putellas, Lena Oberdorf and Alex Morgan made up the rest of the team.
Mead, unfortunately, lost out to Putellas for the Best FIFA Women’s Player Award, which was nominated by fellow professionals, coaches, journalists and fans.
Her efforts in last year’s European Championships, where she won the Golden Boot, wasn’t enough as she came in third behind Putellas and Morgan.
England manager Sarina Wiegman did win the Best Women’s Coach prize, though, after guiding the Lionesses to a major tournament win, while Manchester United goalkeeper Mary Earps was chosen as the Best Goalkeeper.
