Arsenal Hoping To Break Attendance Record Again As 40,000 Tickets Are Sold Ahead Of Chelsea Clash

Arsenal have already sold 40,000 tickets ahead of the Gunners’ game against Chelsea at the Emirates next month.

Jonas Eidevall‘s side played in front of 54,115 people in the opening fixture versus Liverpool at the start of October, which is an attendance record for the Women’s Super League.

There is a potential to break that total when the Gunners face Chelsea in what will be a fiercely contested game between two potential title contenders.

Arsenal will be hoping for a better result than last season’s game between the two teams

The Gunners played the exact same fixture at the Emirates last year when nearly 47,000 were in attendance.

It ended up being a rather disappointing result for the home team, though. Kim Little had put Eidevall’s team into the lead, but a very late equaliser from Chelsea striker Sam Kerr meant the two London rivals had to share the points.

Early season struggles

Arsenal have had a rather difficult start to the campaign, having lost against Liverpool before drawing with Manchester United.

Eidevall’s side have regrouped with back-to-back victories versus Aston Villa and Bristol City, but they have been far from convincing, despite some major additions to the squad in the summer.

Some managers have been setting up rather defensively against the Gunners, and it has led to the team struggling to break their opponents down. If they are to mount a credible title challenge, they will need to overcome these difficulties quickly so they don’t find themselves too far behind in the race for top spot

Arsenal will be taking on fellow WSL title hopefuls Manchester City this weekend. They then play the likes of Leicester, Brighton and West Ham before that huge clash against Chelsea in mid-December.
