There will be more than 20,000 fans at Selhurst Park this weekend for the Women’s League Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea.
It is the first time that the home of Crystal Palace will hold the event, and a record-breaking attendance is expected as the stadium hosts the clash between the two London clubs.
The previous record (8,004) was set last year, when Chelsea lost 3-1 to Manchester City at AFC Wimbledon’s Cherry Red Records Stadium. The move to a larger capacity ground has clearly paid dividends with the number of tickets sold already.
After losing in the final last season, Emma Hayes’s side will be looking to go one better this campaign, and they will be confident of getting a result, having beaten Arsenal in the Women’s FA Cup last weekend.
The Gunners will, of course, be seeking instant payback. Jonas Eidevall’s team have lost both games since beating City in the League Cup semi-final last month so they will be hoping for better on Sunday.
