England Boss Celebrates Massive Award Win On Instagram

Sarina Wiegman, manager of England Women, has recently celebrated the women’s coach of the year award at the 2022 Best Fifa Football Awards in Paris.

In the post, Wiegman wrote: “Last night was a celebration of football and for me especially of Women’s Football. On the pitch we’re competitors, but off the pitch we’re all one team. A team who together can grow and develop the sport in a sustainable way. We must never forget the basics and the values that make women’s football so beautiful and unique.

“I’m honoured to receive the award and I’d like to thank my amazing players, support team and of course my family.”

Currently, Wiegman’s post has over 12,000 likes on Instagram. Among the people who liked the post was Beth Mead, who rose to international prominence under Wiegman for the Lionesses.

The women’s player of the year award was given to Alexia Putellas, who won the Liga F and the Women’s Champions League with Barcelona in 2022. The other two players in the running for the award were Beth Mead and Alex Morgan. Additionally, Manchester United ‘keeper Mary Earps won the goalkeeper of the year award.

As well as this, Lucy Bronze, Leah Williamson, Keira Walsh, Sam Kerr and Beth Mead were all included in the FIFA Women’s XI of the year.
