Lionesses Icon Posts Rallying Cry On Instagram Ahead Of Belgium Game

Lionesses legend Leah Williamson posted a rallying call on Instagram ahead of the England’s highly-anticipated match with a dangerous Belgium outfit in the Arnold Clark Cup.

England have won their first two games in the Arnold Clark Cup – they first calmly swept aside South Korea by a score of 4-0, before scraping past a robust Italy team by 2-1.

The post shows Williamson side by side with Bayern Munich’s Georgia Stanway. There are three pictures on the post in total, each showing a happy and healthy working relationship between the two compatriots. The last photo shows the two laughing together.

For the post’s caption, Williamson wrote: “Final game tomorrow. Show up loud Bristol.”

Williamson’s post currently has over 58,000 likes on Instagram – among those who have liked the photo include Alessia Russo and Chelsea star Reece James (brother of Lauren James).

Keira Walsh, who plays for Barcelona, left a tongue in cheek comment on the post, writing: “Feeling left out to be honest.”

At club level, Williamson and Stanway have both been rivals – Williamson has been at Arsenal her whole career, while Stanway has played for Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers in the past – but the two appear to be able to put club rivalries aside on the international stage.
