Manchester City Recall On-Loan Star For Final Run Of WSL Games

Manchester City have recalled on-loan goalkeeper, Khiara Keating, from Women’s Championship outfit Coventry United. The decision has been made after an injury to Sandy MacIver – it’s unknown how long the 24-year-old will be out of action for.

So far this season, Keating has struggled for game time on loan in the Midlands. Now she is back at City, she can provide competition as a backup ‘keeper. At just 18, she still has plenty of developing to do.

She was on loan at Coventry for a three-month spell, but her time in the first team was limited during that period.

Manchester City will need all the help they can get in their last five games of the WSL season. In those games, the Citizens will take on West Ham United, Reading, Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton (in that order).

So far this season, City’s first-choice ‘keeper, Ellie Roebuck, has underperformed somewhat. She has kept five clean sheets this season, but has a save percentage of just 64% – therefore, over a third of the shots on target she has faced have resulted in goals. Could Keating usurp her spot?

According to a statement on Manchester City’s official club website, Keating will go ‘straight into the squad’ to take on West Ham in their next WSL game.
