Reece James says he is “proud” of his sister’s achievements after Lauren James scored what proved to be England’s winner in the 1-0 victory over Denmark on Friday morning.
It was an outstanding individual goal, with the Chelsea star curling the ball past Danish goalkeeper Lene Christensen just six minutes into the match.
After the game ended, Reece took to Twitter to express his pride after Lauren performed so well in her first start at a World Cup:

England are closing in on the knockout stages
The win over Denmark means that the Lionesses are on the verge of qualifying from Group D, with six points from their first two matches.
China’s victory against Haiti does, however, mean they will need at least a draw in their final group game to ensure they progress to the last 16.
Despite James’ goal, the match was overshadowed by an injury
England fans were delighted with the team’s second win of the tournament but the injury sustained by Keira Walsh is a devastating blow.
The Champions League winner had to be stretchered off in the first half with what looked like a knee problem. Asked about the seriousness of the injury after the game, Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman refused to speculate:
“I know nothing about Keira’s injury. It looked serious, if you get stretchered off it looks serious, but I don’t know. She’ll probably go for a scan but I’ve not heard anything. I think they did a great job to pick it up [after the injury] but of course it’s not nice to see a player on the pitch where it’s clear she has to be stretchered off.”
If Walsh is out for the rest of the tournament, it will undoubtedly damage the team’s chances but, with James, they do have a special player who could light up the World Cup.
