REPORT: Manchester United Interested In Superstar Forward To Replace Alessia Russo

Manchester United are in need of a new star striker, after Alessia Russo was confirmed to be leaving the club upon the expiration of her contract.

Nevertheless, they reportedly have a replacement lined up – according to a piece in the Daily Mail, the Red Devils will look to sign Brazilian forward Geyse da Silva Ferreira (known mononymously as Geyse) in the ongoing summer transfer window.

United boss Mark Skinner has stressed that the club must be ‘aggressive’ in the transfer market if they wish to maintain their current position in the WSL hierarchy – especially with the loss of Russo.

What will Geyse add to the Manchester United squad?

Geyse is currently one of the most exciting and entertaining footballers to watch on the planet. She possesses quick feet, electric pace and a burning desire to take on her opponents with spellbinding tricks and skills.

Despite this, last season was not the best of Geyse’s career – she scored just six goals across 24 games in the Primera Division. She fared somewhat better in the Women’s Champions League, where she netted four goals in ten fixtures.

Geyse football career summary so far

Born on March 27, 1998, Geyse’s first youth academy came in the form of CESMAC, which was then closely folllowed by a stint with União Desportiva in her native Brazil. Additionally, she also played Futsal as a youngster

In 2016, Geyse made the jump to Centro Olímpico, before moving to Corinthians the following year. She would score just one goal for Meu Timão – in 2017, she moved to Europe with Madrid CFF.

However, it was at her next club, Benfica, where her career began to take off. While at As Encarnadas, she found her goalscoring touch, netting an astonishing 49 goals in 30 league games.

In 2020, she then returned to Madrid CFF, bringing her new-found natural goalscoring abilities with her. She scored 30 goals across two seasons for the club, earning her a move to Barcelona in 2022 – where she remains to this day.

She has also earned a handful of caps for Brazil, with her international debut coming in 2017. In total, Geyse has scored six goals in 41 games for her country.
