Road Collapses Beneath Manchester United Team Bus In Malta

A team coach, carrying the Manchester United Women’s team, became trapped after the ground collapsed beneath it on the way to a friendly against Maltese team Birkirkara.

According to the Malta Independent, one of the bus’ rear wheels got stuck in a pothole that opened up as the coach travelled over it, rendering it unable to move.

Thankfully, no one board the coach suffered any injuries and United played out their friendly against Birkirkara at the Tony Bezzina Stadium as normal. In that game, United romped to a 10-0 victory, after a dominant first half that saw them go into the break with a 6-0 lead. Among the goalscorers were Rachel Williams, Nikita Parris and Alessia Russo (who managed to net a brace against the Maltese side).

Manager Marc Skinner wanted to make sure everyone in the squad got a decent run out on the pitch for this game. In order to achieve this, the Manchester United boss made eleven changes at half time.

The WSL is currently experiencing a winter break, with teams playing friendly matches and attending training camps in order to maintain their peak fitness levels.
