Top WSL Boss Slams ‘Very Odd’ Fixture Arrangement

Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall has given a scathing criticism of his team’s upcoming schedule in the WSL.

He said it was ‘very odd’ that the Gunners will be required to play a league game before their Champions League fixture against Wolfsburg on Sunday – meanwhile, Chelsea do not.

The Gunners will take on Wolfsburg in their Champions League semi-final at the weekend – before then, however, they will need to play league leaders Manchester United in a crucial league encounter.

Playing two massive games with just three days in between them could have disastrous consequences for Arsenal’s season – something that Eidevall took notice of.

Eidevall said: “It’s like you want one of the teams to have a better chance to succeed than the other. I find it very odd that we are the only team of the two English teams that are forced to play before our semi-final.

“I can’t see the reasons for it. It’s something we have to look into after, for the appropriate time, because I can’t see the logic.”

Arsenal are currently third in the WSL, with a game in hand over Manchester United (who are in first place). Winning the league title is certainly not out of the question, but such a detrimental fixture arrangement will not make it easy for the North London outfit.
