Tottenham Chairman Is “Lobbying” For ENDING Relegation In The WSL

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is “lobbying” for relegation from the Women’s Super League to be scrapped, according to the Daily Mail.

The English tabloid reports that the Spurs supremo wants a closed system as he believes it will help grow the domestic game in England.

Relegation was introduced in 2014 but Levy and other executives believe that the fear of dropping out of the top flight has led to teams refraining from investing in players and facilities.

There is likely to be a semblance of self-interest in Levy’s lobbying, with Tottenham currently in danger of dropping down into the Championship.

After next season, the WSL will no longer be controlled by the FA, with a new organisation being set up to run it, so the changes to the league structure will likely be considered when that switch occurs. Whether Levy will get his way, we shall have to wait and see.
