Journalist Claims Arsenal And Chelsea Will Complete Their Next Transfers “In The Next 48 Hours”

England duo Alessia Russo and Hannah Hampton will complete their moves to Arsenal and Chelsea respectively “in the next 48 hours”, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s Tom Garry.

It is believed that Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman has asked players to wrap up any transfers before the squad fly out to Australia on Wednesday and Garry claims that, if they can’t, they will have to wait until they come back home after the tournament:

The deal for Hampton has been in the works for a while. The goalkeeper left Aston Villa at the end of last month and she is currently a free agent, so Chelsea should make the transfer official very soon.

Russo is in a similar situation, having decided to leave Manchester United following the expiry of her contract. Arsenal have always been favourites for the forward’s signature, having initially made a world record £500,000 bid for her during the January transfer window.

However, the Gunners are now set to secure her services on a free transfer and, if everything goes to plan, an announcement is likely to be made before the plane takes off later this week.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have been active in the transfer market already

Over the past week, Jonas Eidevall’s side have confirmed the signings of Paris Saint-Germain defender Amanda Ilestedt and Benfica striker Cloe Lacasse. Adding Russo to their ranks will give them a formidable squad heading into the new WSL season.

Blues boss Emma Hayes has also been adding quality to her lineup. Catarina Macario has arrived from Lyon, while the club have recently announced that they have secured the signature of PSG fullback Ashley Lawrence. You can read a full round-up of transfer news here.
