Manchester United forward Adriana Leon has joined NWSL side Portland Thorns on loan until the end of June.
The Canadian international only joined Marc Skinner’s team in the summer after making the switch from West Ham.
However, Leon has struggled for game time as United have mounted their challenge for the Women’s Super League title. She has made just five league appearances in total, scoring once in the 4-0 win over Brighton back in October.
The 30-year-old had spent the last five seasons in English football, having originally joined the Hammers from Sky Blue FC in 2018.
Leon signed a two-year deal when she sealed her transfer to Old Trafford last year so she will return to Manchester when her time with the Thorns comes to an end. However, considering her lack of minutes, it seems clear that once her current loan deal expires, she will be seeking a permanent move elsewhere.
