Chelsea boss Emma Hayes says she expects her team to continue grinding out results in order to catch Manchester United at the top of the WSL table.
Sam Kerr scored the winner with four minutes of normal time remaining against Liverpool on Wednesday evening and Hayes believes that never say die attitude will help them in the title race:
“I know we can produce better performances than we have done [recently. But when you get to this stage, you have to dig out results, we have done that and I am confident we can keep doing it.”
Chelsea’s victory midweek puts them just four points adrift of United, with two games in hand, heading into the next round of fixtures.
Even so, Hayes’ team could find themselves seven points back before they play again, with United taking on Tottenham in the early kickoff on Sunday, while the Blues play their match versus Everton in the evening.
If Chelsea do get all three points against the Toffees, though, they will soon have the chance to go top. The Blues play both Leicester and West Ham ahead of the Manchester derby later this month.
