‘We Should’ve Won’ ‘Poor Performance’ Chelsea Fans React On Twitter As Blues Crash Out Of Champions League Against Barcelona

Last night Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona, despite a spirited defensive performance from Emma Hayes’ Blues.

Overall, the Chelsea fanbase was unhappy, but some were willing to accept defeat. They believed that their team put in a strong performance and should have no regrets.

Others were more scathing – they thought Hayes’ setup was too negative and that they should have been more cut-throat with their attacking approach.

In the game against Barcelona, Chelsea began the game a goal down on aggregate, after they lost the first leg by a score of 1-0. Nevertheless, the Blues stuck to their defensive game plan and hoped to hit the Catalonian giants on the counter.

This somewhat backfired – after a tepid first half, it was Barcelona who struck first with a goal from Caroline Graham Hansen, after a counterattack of their own.

Following this, Chelsea began to commit numbers forward. They equalised just four minutes later thanks to Guro Reiten, following a jinking run from Sam Kerr, but the Blues could not find the all-important second goal. As a result, Chelsea’s quest for Champions League gold continues.
