It’s almost time for another weekend of WSL FA Cup action! Chelsea are gearing up to take on Reading on Sunday, while Manchester City will play Aston Villa.
Arguably the marquee game of the set of fixtures is Manchester City Vs Aston Villa. The two teams last played each other back in January, where the scores ended at 1-1. In the FA Cup, something has to give – who will come out on top when stalemates are thrown out of the window?
Additionally, WSL league leaders Chelsea will take on a game Reading side who defeated Tottenham in the previous round to get this far. While the Blues will enter this fixture as the favourites, they cannot afford to overlook the Royals who have already sprung a cup surprise during this campaign.
Manchester United are also still in the competition – they’re set to take on Championship outfit Lewes at the Dripping Pan. Both teams won by wide scorelines in the last round – United defeated Durham by a score of 5-0, while Lewes ran out as 6-1 victors over Cardiff.
In the final WSL FA Cup game of the weekend, Birmingham City will take on a struggling Brighton team. The Seagulls are currently fighting for their WSL lives, while Birmingham are sitting comfortably in 4th position in the Women’s Championship.
The Midlands team may be able to shock Brighton with a win, considering their respective league positions – additionally, the South Coast outfit may want to focus their efforts on avoiding relegation. Who will progress to the semi-finals?
