Rachel Daly, who plays for Aston Villa in the WSL, posted a victorious picture on Instagram after the Villans sprung an FA Cup surprise to defeat title-chasing Manchester City.

Daly scored the winning goal in extra time in that game – the picture she posted shows her celebrating the goal that sent Villa through to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Villa goal machine captioned the post with: “This group amaze me every single day. We gave it everything tonight and I couldn’t be happier we got the win! Fans were incredible as always.”

Currently, Daly’s post has just under 15,000 likes on Instagram. Among those who have liked the post include Mary Earps, Jordan Nobbs and Beth Mead.

Additionally, several of Daly’s teammates, both at club and international level, left a comment on the post. They included Kirsty Hanson, Freya Gregory and Sarah Mayling.

In Villa’s FA Cup tie against Manchester City, the scores were level at 1-1 for the majority of the game. Rachel Corsie scored first for Villa, before seeing her effort cancelled out by a goal from Deyna Castellanos.

The stalemate continued until extra time, when Rachel Daly popped up to score the winner and send Aston Villa into the FA Cup semi-finals.
