WSL Weekend Roundup

Liverpool defeated Brighton and Manchester City obliterated West Ham United in this week’s edition of WSL weekend action – let’s take a look at how things panned out.

Liverpool piled the misery on a relegation-threatened Brighton outfit at the weekend, as they beat the Seagulls by a score of 2-1. They fell behind in the first half, but a brace from Ceri Holland gave the Reds all three points.

Like their Merseyside cousins, Everton also came from behind to win at the weekend. They were 2-0 down early on against Reading, but strikes from Hanna Bennison, Katja Snoeijs and Nicoline Sorensen in the second half gave the Toffees a victory to remember.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a rough season so far – they didn’t win at the weekend, but they certainly provided entertainment. The North London outfit played out a 3-3 draw with Aston Villa at the weekend – Spurs looked to be good value for their lead, but a brace from Rachel Daly ensured the would only be leaving with a draw.

The final game of the weekend took place between Manchester City and West Ham United. It was a thoroughly one-sided rout, as City outclassed the Hammers winning 5-2. The Sky Blues’ goals on the day were scored by Chloe Kelly, Laura Coombs, Khadija Shaw, Mary Fowler and Steph Houghton – the Irons’ responses were netted by Emma Snerle and Lisa Evans.
