Agent Confirms United Have Made Contact About Signing 64 Cap Colombian International

Manchester United are “interested” in signing Atletico Nacional midfielder Daniela Montoya, according to Noticias RCN.

The Colombian publication claims that the 32-year-old’s agent, Jorge Suarez, has received an enquiry from the Red Devils, and they go as far as publishing the email that was sent:

“Hello Jorge, thanks for your email. What a night for Colombia! While we try to lower the team average and I would have to check the GBE points, what is the situation with Daniela Montoya’s contract please?”

From the sound of things, it does look like Montoya’s agent was the one that initiated the contact, with United then replying with a request for more details.

RCN say that “talks” over a transfer to the Manchester club have begun, but we shall see if other news sources pick up on the story.

Montoya’s career profile

The 32-year-old has played the majority of her career in her native Colombia, making appearances for the likes of Envigado, Junior, Independiente Medellin and Atletico Nacional.

Montoya has had two brief spells abroad, playing for Spanish club Levante in 2016, as well as going on loan to Bahrain side Al-Riffa in 2019.

The midfielder has taken part in three World Cups, including the current one in Australia and New Zealand, having racked up 64 caps for Colombia.

United will be keeping tabs on her performances at the World Cup

Colombia have had an outstanding start to the World Cup, having won their opening two group games.

Montoya has captained her country in both fixtures, playing 87 minutes in the first match versus South Korea, while she was replaced midway through the second half of the shock win over Germany.

Barring a dramatic swing in goal difference, Colombia have already qualified for the knockout stages, but a draw against Morocco tomorrow will officially seal their passage to the round of 16.
