Arsenal defender Rafaelle Souza will “leave” the Gunners when her contract expires, the club have confirmed.
The 31-year-old joined the London club during the 2022 January transfer window, and she has had some memorable moments over the past eighteen months.
Souza scored in the 4-0 win over North London rivals Tottenham in front of a record crowd at the Emirates back in September last year.
The Brazilian international also played an important role as Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners over Chelsea in the Conti Cup a couple of months ago.
Arsenal Have Some Positives To Take From A Difficult Season
Despite the Gunners having to deal with four separate ACL injuries, the rest of the squad (including Souza) have bandied together and made the best of things.
In addition to that sensational Conti Cup triumph, Jonas Eidevall’s side made it all the way to the Champions League semi-finals.
Their defeat to Wolfsburg was heartbreaking, conceding in the final minute of extra-time during the second leg, but it was still a big achievement to get that far, considering they did it mostly without the likes of Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema.
They will be hoping for more luck with injuries and better fortune in Europe come next season.
