Arsenal Confirm That 18 Year Old Forward Has Signed New Contract

Arsenal have confirmed that striker Michelle Agyemang has signed her first professional contract with the club.

The 18-year-old has been with the Gunners since the age of six but she has now committed her long-term future by putting pen to paper on this new deal. Speaking to the club’s website, Agyemang expressed her delight at being able to continue her journey with the WSL side:

“Arsenal Football Club is like family to me, so signing a professional contract here is just incredible, it really is what dreams are made of.”

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity and I can’t wait to continue playing for the Arsenal.”

Agyemang has gone to another level this campaign

The teenager had only made five senior appearances before this season, having made her first-team debut for Arsenal as a 16-year-old back in 2022 during a league game against Leicester City.

Agyemang was given a chance to play for Watford at the start of this campaign, moving to the Hornets as a dual signing. After joining the Championship club, the forward has started to realise her potential.

As well as scoring 6 goals, she won the Championship Player of the Month and the Championship Player of the Week award on two occasions.

She will be hoping to make her breakthrough at Arsenal next season

There is, of course, a lot of competition for places in Jonas Eidevall’s team so Agyemang will have her work cut out getting minutes on the pitch. Alessia Russo and Stina Blackstenius are currently leading the line but Vivanne Miedema is also expected to return for the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Dutch international underwent minor knee surgery in early March but Eidevall emphasised at the time that she would only be out for weeks rather than months, easing fears of another lengthy layoff.
