Former Manchester City star Shaun Wright-Phillips has praised Yui Hasegawa for her performance in Sunday’s 2-0 win over title rivals Chelsea.
The 26-year-old was absolutely dominant in midfield, helping Gareth Taylor’s side secure a vital three points, and Wright-Phillips said she was the best player on the park:
“I don’t even know how to explain her football intelligence and the way she plays. The way she creates space for others on and off the ball for me is just frightening. I thought she was my player of the match.”
Hasegawa only joined the Citizens from West Ham on a three-year deal back in September but she has already established herself as a regular first-team starter.
Since the Japanese international was introduced into the team, City have not lost a league game. She scored on her debut in a 4-0 win over Leicester City and she hasn’t looked back from there.
The victory over Chelsea will surely give Hasegawa and her teammates a massive confidence boost, especially after their shock exit to Aston Villa in the Women’s FA Cup. They will be keen to carry the momentum into the match against Arsenal this weekend.
