Liverpool Secure Fifth Signing Of The Summer As 25 Year Old Joins On Two Year Contract

Liverpool have confirmed that West Ham defender Grace Fisk has completed her move to the Merseyside club.

The 25-year-old has reportedly signed a two-year deal, keeping her with the Reds until the end of the 2024/25 season. Asked for her thoughts on the transfer, Fisk said that she was looking forward to making a fresh start at a new team:

“I’m really happy to be here. I”ve been walking around the city and just getting used to everything. I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going. West Ham was my first professional club and is all I’ve known so far really. I’m 25 now and I wanted to make sure my next contract was the right one for me.”

Fisk has played under manager Matt Beard and managing director Russ Fraser before when they worked for West Ham, and the centre-back said they both played an important role in her deciding to make the switch to Liverpool:

“I know Beardy and Russ previously so when I spoke to them I got a really good feeling. Liverpool as a club, as well, is the type of club you get a feeling from and that’s what I got. So everything sort of fitted to come here.”

Fisk is about to hit her prime

After returning from college football at the end of 2019, the defender has been ever-present in West Ham’s starting lineup. She has also played for England from Under 17 to Under 21, although she hasn’t been handed her first senior cap yet, despite being called up back in 2020.

Fisk does look ready to push on and make the step up, and it will be hoped that she can fully realise her potential during her time on Merseyside.

It is Liverpool’s fifth signing of the summer

The Reds have been pretty busy in the transfer market over the past few weeks, with the likes of Leicester City’s Natasha Flint, Glasgow City’s Jenna Clark, Sheffield United’s Mia Enderby and Rosengard’s Teagan Micah having all joined since the start of July.

Matt Beard is determined to improve on last season’s seventh-place finish, and the addition of Fisk and the other new recruitments will go a long way to doing that.
