REPORT: Experienced Manchester City Defender Signs Contract Extension

REPORT: Experienced Manchester City Defender Signs Contract Extension

Manchester City defender Alanna Kennedy has recently signed a new contract with the club. This new deal will keep her at City until the end of the 2024/25 WSL season.

A stouthearted defender, Kennedy has struggled for fitness this season due to various calf problems. So far, her injuries have limited her to just seven WSL appearances this season.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that she will not be available for Manchester City’s last two games of the season. In those games, the Citizens will take on Manchester United and Everton, respectively.

The news will be a source of disappointment for Manchester City fans, but they need not fear – Kennedy is set to be at the club for at least another two years (unless she is purchased by another club for a substantial fee).

Despite this, Kennedy is expected to be available for the 2023 Women’s World Cup. She has a stunning 108 caps for Australia – her first came all the way back in 2012, when she was just 17 years of age.

Kennedy joined City in 2021, after her previous deal at Tottenham Hotspur was allowed to expire. Outside of this, she has also played for Orlando Pride, Western Sydney Wanderers and Newcastle Jets in her native Australia.
