United Make 2 Cap Spanish International Their ‘Primary Target’ Ahead Of Summer Transfer Window

Manchester United have made Atletico Madrid midfielder Maitane Lopez a “primary target”, according to Manchester World.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and she will be available on a free transfer in a matter of weeks.

Lopez has been capped twice by Spain at senior level, having made her international debut against Morocco in a friendly back in 2021.

She has spent her entire career in her home country, starting out life at Collerense before a five-year stint at Levante. After a brief period at Real Sociedad, she joined Atletico at the start of last season.

Lopez Is Unlikely To Be United’s Only Addition This Summer

Manager Marc Skinner has spoken out in recent weeks about United’s need to invest in the squad. Although they have done outstandingly well to keep up with Chelsea at the top of the Women’s Super League table, sustaining title challenges in future campaigns will require investment and a bigger squad.

With the Red Devils having qualified for the Champions League, Skinner’s team will be playing a lot more games next season. If Lopez does secure a move to Manchester, she is likely to be just one of a number of signings this summer.
