“Why Not?” Arsenal Star Keen To Take Inspiration From European Exploits After Making Bold Title Declaration

Arsenal defender Jen Beattie says she still believes the Gunners can win the Women’s Super League title this season.

Jonas Eidevall’s side have lost four key players to ACL injuries, but their 1-0 win over Leicester on Friday night has closed the gap to Manchester United at the top of the table.

Asked about the club’s chances of finishing first, Beattie said there is still belief in the squad that they can do it, and they will be looking to take inspiration from their run to the Champions League semi-finals:

“100%, why not? We showed against Wolfsburg what we can do in Europe and it is credit to the girls plugging through and getting results like tonight. 100% we can do it.”

While Beattie is right to claim that Arsenal are not out of the title race, you do feel it is a long shot still. They are six points adrift of United, albeit with a game in hand. Chelsea are, however, also ahead of them, having played fewer matches, so the Gunners will need more than one team to drop points during the run-in.
