WSL Star Posts Ovarian Cancer Awareness Video On Instagram

Arsenal and WSL superstar Beth Mead has uploaded a video targeting ovarian cancer awareness on Instagram.

In partnership with Ovarian Cancer Action, the video is to promote a charity walk for ovarian cancer, called ‘Walk In Her Name’, which will take place on March 5.

The post was captioned by Ovarian Cancer Action – it reads: “It’s #OvarianCancerAwarenessMonth and today we walk!

“#TeamOCA Captain @bethmead_ would like to thank everyone taking part in Walk In Her Name. It means the world to her, her family and thousands of families affected by ovarian cancer.

“Registration for Walk In Her Name closes on the 5th March so there is still time to get involved! Do something amazing this Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.”

Currently, the post has over 6,000 likes on Instagram – one of them was from Mead’s international teammate, Alessia Russo.

On the Ovarian Cancer Action official website, Mead encouraged fans to go walking to raise money for charity. She wrote: “Delighted to announce that I’m taking on the role of Captain of #TeamOCA for Walk in Her Name.

“My rehabilitation means I can’t walk 100km over the month, so I’m asking you to walk for me on behalf of Mum and thousands of women we’ve loved and lost to ovarian cancer. It would mean the world to me and my family.”

Beth’s mother, June Mead, passed away after a battle with ovarian cancer on January 7, 2023.
