WSL Weekend Preview – Chelsea Vs Arsenal And Manchester United Vs Manchester City

Another weekend of WSL action beckons. In this set of fixtures, we will see Chelsea take on Arsenal and Manchester City face off against local rivals Manchester United.

Without any further ado, let’s dive into all the games this weekend – starting with Tottenham Hotspur vs Reading.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Reading

Spurs have had a tumultuous season in the WSL. While they are safe from relegation, they have also experienced some truly turgid runs of form – in recent weeks, they have steadied the ship.

Meanwhile, Reading will be desperate for a win. With just two games remaining, they are currently bottom of the table – but a victpry could propel the royals to safety.

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Arguably the premier match of the weekend, league leaders Chelsea will take on London rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. If Chelsea want to ensure that they remain at the pinnacle of the WSL table, they will need to beat the Gunners.

Though their chances are remote, Arsenal are not out of the title race. They are five points behind Chelsea – therefore, they’ll need a win and will also have to hope that Manchester United drop points.

Everton vs Brighton

Everton will take on Brighton at the weekend in a mid-table clash – the Seagulls are almost safe from relegation. A win would secure their safety, but Everton will also be looking to end the season on a strong note.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool

Another mid-table clash sees Aston Villa take on Liverpool. Neither team have anything to play for – however, in the WSL, pride is always on the line.

Leicester City vs West Ham United

Leicester City will be hoping they can defeat West Ham United at the weekend – a victory for the Foxes could see them leap to safety. Despite this, a defeat could have disastrous consequences – especially so if Reading can overcome Tottenham.

Manchester United vs Manchester City

We have a Manchester derby on our hands! It isn’t your common-or-garden local derby, either – should Manchester United win, and Chelsea fail to beat Arsenal, they will return to the top of the WSL table. Nevertheless, City will be out to spoil the party.
