A couple of weeks ago, we looked at why Tottenham Hotspur are performing so poorly in the WSL this season – since then, their form has not improved. As a result, Spurs are now just two points away from falling into the relegation zone.

Something had to change – due to the hopelessly terrible string of defeats, Rehanne Skinner was relieved of her position as manager.

Skinner had been in charge at Spurs since 2020. Last season, she subverted all expectations as she guided the club to a 5th-place finish in the WSL. It’s safe to say that this season has not panned out as she hoped it would, with Tottenham now perilously close to the drop zone.

This season, Spurs have won just three WSL games. In total, they have accumulated a meager nine points from 14 league games.

Major signings such as Bethany England and Drew Spence haven’t had the intended effect – they may be scoring goals, but they’re also shipping them at an alarming rate. Spurs have not kept a clean sheet in the WSL since October when they hammered a lowly Brighton outfit.

On Skinner’s departure, Managing Director Andy Rogers said: “Since joining us in 2020, Rehanne has played an integral role in our development in the women’s game, both on and off the field.

“She has carried out her duties with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail, and we should like to thank her for everything she has done for us over the course of her tenure.”

Skinner’s position will be filled by interim manager Vicky Jepson for the game against Leicester on Tuesday – she will remain in place until the Tottenham heirarchy appoint a new permanent head coach.
