Chloe Kelly Declares The “Race Is On” As She Delivers Verdict On City’s WSL Title Chances

Manchester City forward Chloe Kelly says the “race is on” for the Women’s Super League title this season.

The Citizens are three points behind leaders Manchester United, and just two adrift of Chelsea in second place, heading into this weekend’s fixtures, and Kelly believes top spot is very much up for grabs

“The Champions League race is on – and I think the league race is on as well. The start to the season was going to be difficult because it was a new team, a lot of new players, but we stuck together. We’re in great form. We’re picking up points very well at the moment and we’re scoring a lot of goals.”

It’s probably not wise to rule out Arsenal either, whose 2-0 win over Liverpool midweek moved them to within three points of City with a game in hand, but Gareth Taylor’s side are unbeaten in twelve WSL matches so you’d back them to be United and Chelsea’s main challengers.

They will be taking on Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon, who are managerless after dispensing with the services of Jens Scheuer. The Seagulls lost to Chelsea earlier this week and they have not won in the WSL since November so City will be heavy favourites to get the three points.
