REPORT: Arsenal Superstar Signs New One-Year Contract

Arsenal and WSL full-back Steph Catley has officially signed a new deal with the club that will last until the summer of 2024, according to a statement on their official club website.

On her new deal, Catley said: “I’ve made some incredible friendships here and when the offer came around I knew exactly what I wanted to do and exactly where I wanted to be.

“I’ve never been happier playing football and I feel like this team is very special – we’re building something special and in the future we’re capable of achieving anything.”

What does Steph Catley add to Arsenal?

A creative left-back who is also very solid defensively, Catley adds both inspiration and perspiration to the Arsenal squad. She has been a mainstay of the staring eleven this season, featuring in 17 of their 22 league games and eight of their Champions League encounters.

On Catley’s new contract, Gunners head coach Jonas Eidevall said: “I’m delighted Steph has signed a new contract with us. Steph is one of the best defenders in the game and brings so much to this group both on and off the pitch.

“She’s a model professional and has delivered time and again when called upon throughout my time here, so we’re all pleased to say Steph will continue to be a part of Arsenal for years to come.”

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Cately signed for Melbourne Victory in 2009. Five impressive seasons led her to being snapped up by Portland Thorns in 2014, followed by Orlando Pride in 2016.

After a year with OL Reign from 2018 to 2019, she made the jump to Arsenal in late 2020. Since then, she has gone on to make 41 appearances for the Gunners, scoring two goals.

She has also been capped on a number of occasions by the Matildas. So far, Catley has made 102 international appearances for Australia, scoring three goals along the way.
