WSL FA Cup Semi-Final Draw

Chelsea will face off against Aston Villa and Manchester United will take on Brighton in the semi-finals of the WSL FA Cup, as confirmed in the draw.

It’s a tough draw for Aston Villa – however, the Villans overcame adversity in the previous round of the competition when they stunned the world after beating Manchester City thanks to a winning goal from Rachel Daly.

Chelsea, meanwhile, defeated Reading in the previous round of the FA Cup. Their goals came via Jess Carter, Maren Mjelde, and Guro Reiten – despite a late fightback from the Royals, it wasn’t enough, as the score ended at 3-1 to the Blues.

Manchester United arguably had the easiest draw of the lot in the quarter-finals, as they played Championship outfit Lewes. However, the Sussex outfit weren’t about to make it easy for the Red Devils – they put forth a commendable effort, but eventually fell to defeat. The final score was 3-1, with Nikita Parris and Vilde Boe Risa both getting in on the act.

Finally, despite Brighton’s worried season in the WSL, they can be immensely proud of their efforts in the FA Cup. In the quarter-finals, they were drawn up against Birmingham City – while the Brummies did not roll over, Brighton were simply too much for the second-tier side, winning by a score of 2-0.
